FAQ
What is counseling?
Counseling is a therapeutic process where a trained professional helps individuals, couples, or families address emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges. The goal of counseling is to promote mental health, self-awareness, personal growth, and well-being.
Who can benefit from counseling?
Anyone can benefit from counseling, regardless of age, background, or life circumstances. It’s helpful for people dealing with issues such as:
- Anxiety, depression, or stress
- Relationship problems
- Grief and loss
- Career challenges
- Life transitions (e.g., divorce, moving, etc.)
- Personal development and self-esteem
How do I know if I need counseling?
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling with emotional issues that are impacting your daily life, counseling can be a helpful way to gain clarity, support, and strategies for coping. It’s also a proactive way to improve mental health, even when you’re not in crisis.
What types of counseling do you offer?
We offer a range of counseling services, including but not limited to:
- Individual Counseling: One-on-one therapy to address personal issues.
- Couples Counseling: Support for partners working through relationship challenges.
- Family Counseling: Addressing dynamics and improving communication within families.
- Group Counseling: Support in a group setting for shared experiences.
- Online Counseling: Convenient virtual therapy options for remote clients.
Do I need to have a referral to see a counselor?
No, you do not need a referral to book an appointment. Simply contact us to schedule a session. We are happy to guide you through the process if you’re unsure about how to start.
What can I expect during a counseling session?
During a session, you can expect a safe, confidential space where you can express your thoughts and feelings. The counselor will listen without judgment and help guide you through the process of identifying challenges and finding solutions. Sessions typically last between 50 to 60 minutes.
Is counseling confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a core principle of our practice. We adhere to strict privacy standards, and the information you share in counseling will not be disclosed to anyone without your consent, except in cases where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others (as required by law).
How long does counseling take?
The length of counseling depends on your individual needs and goals. Some people may find relief after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from ongoing support over several months. Your counselor will work with you to develop a plan tailored to your needs.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept a variety of insurance plans. Please contact us to verify your coverage or if you need assistance with billing and insurance questions. We also offer self-pay options if you prefer.
How do I make an appointment?
To schedule an appointment, simply contact us via phone or email. We’ll help to answer any questions and find a time that works for your schedule.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We understand that life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
How do I know if online counseling is right for me?
Online counseling can be a great option if you prefer the convenience of meeting from your home or if you’re unable to attend in person. It’s just as effective as in-person counseling, as long as you have a private, quiet space and a reliable internet connection. Your counselor will work with you to ensure you are comfortable with the online format.
Can I contact my counselor between sessions?
We encourage clients to reach out if they need support between sessions, but keep in mind that phone or email contact outside of scheduled sessions may be limited depending on your counselor’s availability. If urgent matters arise, please reach out to the appropriate emergency services.
How much do counseling sessions cost?
Session costs vary depending on type of service. Please contact us for detailed pricing. We also offer sliding scale fees based on financial need.
